Man tased during crash investigation on I-75 in West Carrollton remains in jail

UPDATE @ 4:30 p.m.: James Leach Jr. is the 35-year-old jailed in the investigation of a crash on I-75 in West Carrollton, according to online Montgomery County Jail records.

Leach is being detained on several misdemeanors that include disorderly conduct, OVI, obstructing official business and driving while under OVI suspension.

Bail on all of the charges has been set at $7,500, according to jail records.

INITIAL REPORT

A man who was believed to be under the influence of drugs was tased by officers while they investigated a crash on Interstate 75 in West Carrollton on Thursday, according to investigators.

The crash was reported just before the East Dixie Drive exit on northbound I-75 around 1 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, the driver was outside of the vehicle and started to walk toward oncoming traffic, ignoring the officer’s commands, police said.

An officer used his Taser and was able to take the man into custody.

The driver, identified as a 35-year-old man, was arrested on charges of OVI, obstructing official business, and disorderly conduct. Police suspected he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash and incident with police.

No injuries were reported.
