Monroe fitness center collecting Toys for Tots

Anytime Fitness in Monroe for the second year has been designated a collection center for the Toys for Tots campaign.

The fitness center at 3165 Heritage Green Drive,is seeking new and unwrapped toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program through Dec. 10.

The mission of the Corps is to provide holiday gifts to needy children in the community in which one of its units is located.

The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive and patriotic citizens, the U.S. Marine Corps said.

Anytime Fitness is adding even more incentive to donate to the program by offering people who bring in a toy their first month dues for only $1 instead of the normal $35 fee, said Chad Dresnick, president of Anytime Fitness in Monroe.

“I know they need toys badly so I’m glad to be a drop off for them,” he said.

“We get a lot of people who want to join so this is an easy way for them to join.”

Dresnick said people can also drop by and donate a toy without joining the fitness center.

Center hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and closed Sundays.
