Morris Furniture announced today it’s closing the company’s Harshman Road store in Riverside.

The Riverside store was open for 57 years.

“With mixed emotions, we are announcing that our Harshman Road Morris Home showroom is closing. For many decades, this was the flagship store of our company with thousands across the Greater Miami Valley traveling for miles to visit this showroom. The store was known for having one of the best selections of home furnishings and mattresses at competitive prices,” Morris Furniture CEO Larry Klaben said.

The furniture store’s closing sale will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday. All furniture and mattresses will be sold with “drastic reductions,” Klaben said.

At the same time as this closing sale, Morris Furniture is preparing for the grand opening of two new Morris Home showrooms at the Dayton Mall and the Mall at Fairfield Commons. The opening of these two showrooms is expected later this summer.

Morris Furniture will be following Centers for Disease Control recommended guidelines during the Harshman Road closing sale. All employees will be wearing face masks and shoppers are asked to do the same for everyone’s protection.

Store signage is in place reminding shoppers to “sofa distance” by staying 6 to 10 feet away from others, Klaben said.

Employees will have their temperature checked each day and the store will be limiting capacity to follow social distancing guidelines.
