The impact involving the semitrailer and the cow carrier pushed into the car, which was disabled just off the right lane of the interstate.
The passenger car was pinched against the guardrail, trapping the man inside. He has been taken to Wilson Health in Sidney.
The cows remain on the cow carrier. The two injured animals apparently are unable to stand, firefighters said. All of the cows on the carrier are headed to slaughter in Kentucky.
It's not clear what is in the semitrailer that hit the cow carrier.
Neither semi driver was injured.
The right lane remains closed until further notice as tow trucks have been dispatched. Traffic is moving in the left lane without obstacle.
