Names of injured released in crash on Ohio 4 Bypass

FAIRFIELD TWP. — Fairfield Twp. police Saturday released the names and conditions of those injured in a two-car crash that shut down the intersection of Bypass Ohio 4 and Princeton Road on Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred about 1 p.m. when a white Chevrolet TrailBlazer driven by Kathryn L. Cook, 26, of Sudbury Drive in Trenton, slammed into the passenger side of a black Saturn sedan as it was turning left onto Princeton Road, according to Fairfield Twp. police.

Cook’s 3-day-old daughter, Kayleigh Cook, was restrained in a child safety seat in the back seat of the car. The infant, accompanied by her mother, was transported to Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Liberty Twp., with what appeared to be minor injuries, said Brandon McCroskey, a Fairfield Twp. police traffic investigator.

The infant was treated and released. Her mother was not injured.

The front seat passenger in the TrailBlazer, Kathryn J. Korty, 57, of Westview Avenue in Trenton, was transported to Atrium Medical Center, where she was treated and released.

The driver of the Saturn, Joseph A. Bland, 31, of Jameson Court in Trenton, was transported to Atrium and also treated and released.

Front-seat passenger in the Saturn, Stephanie A. Bland, 31, also of Jameson Court in Trenton, was transported by medical helicopter to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she was listed in critical but stable condition Saturday.

A police officer on the scene said one of the drivers was possibly blinded by the sun.

Any motorist who witnessed the accident, which remains under investigation, is asked to call McCroskey at (513) 785-1463.
