CBS correspondent Nikki Battiste interviewed Marian Library Director Sarah Cahalan on the many cultures and customs from around the world portrayed through the Nativity tradition. Battiste also visited the home of Nativity collector and longtime UD employee Michele Devitt, who helps organize the annual exhibit on campus every year.
For Dayton Flyers, Colorado last big test on non-conference schedule
Among the thousands of sets, more than 100 countries are represented. Sizes of the nativity sets range from the smallest that can fit on the head of a nail, to the largest, Provencal village set with 150 pieces that takes up the space in just one room.
(2016) UD Nativity scenes: An inspirational delight
This year’s exhibit theme is “A Labor of Love” with scenes selected by the volunteers who care for the collection.
The exhibit is free an open to the public, however, it will close with the university from Dec. 24 until Jan.1 and also, Jan. 4 and 5. The display runs through Jan. 12. Roesch Library hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. weekends.
