New Carlisle woman, 18, killed in crash

An 18-year-old New Carlisle woman was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on Ohio 235 that closed the roadway for approximately two hours.

Elizabeth Radcliff was driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am eastbound out of a McDonald’s parking lot near milepost 1 in Park Layne when her vehicle was struck by a southbound 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Springfield post.

Radcliff was killed on impact at about 4:12 p.m., according to OSP.

According to a statement from the patrol, Radcliff failed to yield to the Jeep and her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side door.

The Jeep’s driver, Tamara R. Valentine, 53, of New Carlisle, was taken by life squad to Miami Valley Hospital. She was in fair condition, according to OSP.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Traffic was temporarily detoured off 235 and through Park Layne Plaza shopping center because of the investigation at the scene.
