Panel experts and 10Best editors pick the nominees and then the top ten winners are determined by popular vote, according to USA Today 10Best.
COSI beat out the competition in a public vote against 19 other science museums from across the nation.
“The people have spoken, and we could not be more excited and proud of this distinguished honor of being voted Best Science Museum in the nation.” Dr. Federic Bertley, COSI President and CEO said in a press release from COSI. “We want to thank all of our supporters across the country and especially those in Central Ohio who made this possible. While our team works tirelessly to provide best in class experiences for our guests, to have this validated by the entire country is an accolade not soon to be matched.”
COSI has had over 33 million visitors since it opened in 1964. It offers over 300 interactive experiences, a permanent dinosaur gallery and a special exhibition gallery, according to COSI’s website. It also has Ohio’s largest Planetarium.
COSI is located at 333 W. Broad St. in Columbus.
