1 arrested after pursuit on I-75 south in Miami County

UPDATE @ 9:10 a.m.:

Zebadea Baumgarner was booked into Miami County Jail for OVI Saturday at 5 p.m., Piqua OSP Sgt. David Robison said.

He was also charged with failure to comply, fleeing and eluding.

Baumgarner, 26, was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center for leg pain after the pursuit ended on I-75, said Robison.

FIRST REPORT (Dec. 1):

A police pursuit of over 100 mph took place Saturday that began in Piqua near mile marker 83 and ended on I-75 southbound near mile marker 65, according to a release from Lt. Gebhart.

The vehicle, driven by Zebadea Baumgarner, was called in to the Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol as a reckless vehicle.

A trooper observed a traffic violation by the driver and activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop.

When the vehicle failed to yield, a pursuit ensued. Stop Sticks were also deployed, but the driver was able to avoid them.

The pursuit ended when troopers made intentional contact to stop the violator, read the release.

The driver, and sole occupant, was removed from the vehicle by law enforcement without further incident and taken to Upper Valley Medical Center.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
