St. Patty’s Day celebrations more subdued this year

Yesterday should have been bookmarked with green beer, shamrocks and corned beef and cabbage. But there was not too much celebrating this St. Patrick’s Day at area bars and restaurants.

Last year, the Dublin Pub in Dayton was one of the top places in the state to celebrate. The street had to be shut down for the pub's tent, where thousands of people gathered and listened to live bands and enjoyed a green beverage.

This year's event was different. Instead of people packing the bar, they were forced to place their food orders in the parking lot. Some customers took advantage of the offer.

“My family is back home all nestled up and I'm here to get some food for them.” Tyler Primmer, of Dayton, said.

Meanwhile, area liquor stores fared better. The manager at Arrow Wine and Spirits in Kettering said stock on St. Patty's Day beverages, like bourbon, were running low.
