A Huber Heights building was evacuated and closed Friday morning after a forklift backed into a support pole inside and knocked it out of position.

Emergency personnel evacuated the building in the 6000 block of Executive Boulevard and called for structural engineers from the Montgomery County Building and Regulations Department to inspect it after a caller reported the building was sagging.

Huber heights Fire Division Lt. Jeff Gallagher said the building has a “pretty substantial” structural issue after the forklift backed into a column and caused a truss to sag that was supporting the roof.

The county engineer determined the building had to be closed until it could be shored, he said.

Vectren and Dayton Power & Light crews also responded to shut off gas and electric service to the building.

The facility has space for five businesses, with four occupied Friday, Gallagher said.
