Crews free man trapped in corn to his shoulders in Preble County grain bin

UPDATE @ 9:45 p.m.:

A 53-year-old man trapped in a grain silo partially filled with corn this afternoon was buried up to his shoulders.

Crews were called around 12:15 p.m. to 6500 Cramer Road west of the village of Camden.

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said his office’s Emergency Response Services unit — recently trained in grain silo rescue — was called to the scene.

“The necessity for a fast extrication is crucial because the weight of the corn as it packs can cause compartment syndrome and suffocation,” Jones stated in a release.
