Plumbing contractor cited in deadly Sugarcreek Twp. trench collapse

A plumbing contractor based in Dayton has been cited for exposing workers to trenching and excavation hazards after an employee died in a trench collapse in Sugarcreek Twp.

Payne Enterprises Inc. faces $145,860 in penalties, according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

On April 6, Dalbert Burton, 43, was trenching a sewer pipe on Caltalpa View Way when the trench collapsed.
