UPDATE: Dayton man, 25, identified as person killed in Highland Ave. shooting

UPDATE @ 5:58 p.m.: Juan Moore, 25, of Dayton has been identified as the person killed in the shooting on Highland Avenue, according to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.

No other information was available.

UPDATE @ 2:10 p.m.: 

A man is dead after a shooting on Highland Avenue in Dayton late Tuesday morning, according to Dayton police.

An officer on routine patrol in the area of Highland and Buchanan avenues found the man down on the ground and requested additional crews around 11:50 a.m., Sgt. Eric Brown told News Center 7. Officers also took reports of shots fired in the area shortly before the victim was discovered.

The man was later found to be suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, Brown said.

The name of the victim was not released, pending notification of family.

Homicide detectives and members from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives responded for the investigation.

It was not known if police had any suspects in the shooting.
