Car reportedly strikes child but no pedestrian was found, police say

Dayton police responded to a 10:40 a.m. report of a child being struck by a vehicle at Wayne and Watervilet Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, there was no child. Witnesses reported seeing a child struck, matching initial reports.

Sergeant Kyle Thomas said investigators will be working to learn the child’s condition and whether the incident was intentional or accidental.

The driver and passengers of the vehicle were taken to the hospital for precautionary measures.
