Police: 18-year-old student arrested after bringing gun to Dayton school facility

An 18-year-old student was arrested after police said he brought a gun onto a school property on Wednesday, according to a Dayton police incident report.

Jayann Daniel Holston remains booked in the Montgomery County Jail Thursday on preliminary charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a deadly weapon on school grounds, according to jail records.

Police were called around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday to the Miami Valley Career Technology Center Youth Connections campus at 1133 S. Edwin C. Moses Blvd. on reports of a weapons complaint at the school facility.

During the police investigation, a gun was recovered and led to Holston’s arrest, according to the police report.

Holston was a student of the Youth Connections campus, which is a branch campus of the Miami Valley CTC, Superintendent Dr. Nick Wedley said in an emailed statement.

Wedley said the incident also is under an internal investigation.
