Power lines fall onto vehicle after crash into utility pole in Greenville

A Greenville man crashed into a utility pole in Darke County on Tuesday evening.

Darke County Deputies, along with New Madison Fire and Tri-Village Rescue were dispatched to state Route 121 and Preble County Butler Township Road after Brickton Ginger, 44, crashed into a utility pole, according to a release from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Ginger’s vehicle, a black 2001 GMC truck, was traveling northbound on Preble County Butler Township Road and approaching the intersection of state Route 121 when Ginger reached for an item inside the cab, the release said.

Ginger realized the stop sign was there and his brakes locked, causing him to travel off the right side of the road where he struck the utility pole. Ginger stayed in the vehicle until DP&L and New Madison Fire could remove downed power lines from the vehicle.

Ginger was transported to Wayne Healthcare where he was treated and released. He was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control of his vehicle.
