Hoarding conditions prompt additional crews to help battle Dayton house fire

Hoarding conditions in a Dayton home presented additional difficulties for firefighters battling a fire that broke out Friday morning.

Crews were initially dispatched to the area of North and Wroe avenues in Dayton around 11:20 a.m. on reports of utility wires down. While crews were investigating they discovered smoke coming from a house on North Avenue, investigators said.

First units that entered the house encountered hoarding conditions and requested additional crews to assist in locating and fighting the blaze, according to firefighters.

The fire was located in the basement of the home and was quickly extinguished.

One person was inside the home but was able to safely evacuate.

The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical.

No injuries were reported.

FIRST REPORT

Firefighters are working to extinguish a fire that broke out in a Dayton home on North Avenue Friday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the intersection of North Avenue and Wroe Avenue around 11:20 a.m. and reported smoke coming from the structure.

Initial reports indicate additional crews were requested to the scene because of hoarding conditions in the home.

No injuries have been initially reported.
