Read On RTA aims to battle the academic backslide children can experience while they’re not actively learning in the classroom during the summer months.

Kids of all age levels are encouraged to take a book from one of the following transit centers:

  • Wright Stop Plaza, 4 S. Main St.
  • Northwest Transit Center, 2075 Shiloh Springs Road
  • Eastown Transit Center, 1218 Falke Drive
  • Westown Transit Center, 122 Elmhurst Drive
  • South Transit Center, 2730 Lyons Drive

This program will also be participating in National Summer Learning Week with a kickoff event on Monday, July 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Island MetroPark, 101 E. Helena St.

The celebration will include free books, summer treats, and volunteers from Five Rivers MetroParks with live animals to teach children and families about native wildlife.
