Russell Autopsy Results Released

SPRINGFIELD,  Ohio--One of three Logan County people thought to have been slain by Samuel Littleton II died of a stab wound to the chest and blunt force to the head.

The body of Richard Russell, 84, was found Feb. 26 dumped in Chattanooga, Tenn.  His 85-year-old wife, Gladis, is still missing.

Hamilton County, Tenn. Medical Examiner Dr. James K. Metcalfe says Richard Russell was beaten and stabbed once in the chest. Russell suffered several skull fractures plus extensive bruising of the face.

Littleton is accused of killing a 26-year-old Bellefontaine woman, Tiffany Brown, on Feb. 11. Her body was discovered Feb. 16 in the home Littleton shared with Brown’s mother.

He was captured in West Virginia on Feb. 23 and charged in connection with Brown's death. Police say Littleton made statements implicating him in the deaths of the Russells, the Logan County couple who disappeared days after Brown vanished Feb. 11. He has not been charged in connection with their deaths.

Littleton was captured behind a Walmart in Princeton, W.Va. The Russells’ car was found in the store parking lot.

Tennessee authorities called off its search Wednesday night for Gladis Russell after several days, waiting for more information to locate the body.

Littleton remains in a West Virginia jail where he is fighting extradition to Ohio.
