When he came out that morning, he discovered the straps holding the ATV in the bed of his work vehicle, a red Ford F-150, had been cut and the 1996 green Yahama ATV was missing. The ATV was a company vehicle belonging to OMH Communications.
There were tire tracks in the grass running toward Chef Lin’s Restaurant but no markings on the pavement.
Three hours later, the officer was dispatched to Parkview Arms Apartments where an ATV had been discovered. Witnesses said it had been pushed into the adjacent woods but they had pulled it out prior to the arrival of the officer and a detective.
The victim came to the scene and recovered the ATV but said the handlebars appeared damaged and bent downward and the ignition was damaged.
The officer and detective then went to the Comfort Inn to view security video. At approximately 6:30 a.m., the video showed a suspect pulling the ATV out of the truck but it can be seen falling over backward and rolling down the hill. The suspect can then be seen running toward the fence at Parkview Arms where another suspect is waiting. Once the ATV is off of the truck, it falls out of camera view and cannot be seen again.
