The man who set fire to a hotel building on Perry Street has pleaded guilty to five accounts of aggravated arson.

Wesley Michael Slaughter, 19, originally pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, but changed his plea on July 22 to guilty.

Slaughter started a fire at the Koneta Hotel building, destroying the building and displacing dozens of people who were able to escape the fire.

Slaughter’s bond was posted at $1 million after starting a fire on December 23, 2018. His sentencing is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. today.
