Skateboarder sustained neck injury, ‘road rash’

OXFORD — An 18-year-old man was injured Wednesday when he lost control of his skateboard on a hill near Yager Stadium, requiring him to be flown to Cincinnati for treatment.

According to police, Miami University student Bryan Watson, of New York, was skateboarding down the Bonham Road hill and wiped out as he tried to turn into the gate for Yager Stadium around 4:14 p.m.

Two Miami employees found Watson with his foot stuck in a fence. They did not witness the accident.

Watson was found bleeding from his neck and sustained injuries to both elbows. He also had “road rash” on the back of his shoulders, according to police.

The report indicated Watson was talking, complained of severe head pain and “very agitated.”

A landing zone was set up at the soccer field on the Miami University campus. Watson was flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital in Cincinnati.

Watson had been discharged from the hospital by Thursday, according to officials.
