The first of 16 weekends will wrap up with Cincinnati salsa sensation, Son Del Caribe on June 1 at 7 p.m., sponsored by Cox Media Group. Audiences can enjoy a free salsa lesson with DaytON1 Salsa at 6 p.m. to get ready to move during the concert.
“Building on the success of our first season, we look forward to more than 50 free concerts this summer and seeing new and familiar faces on the lawn,” Lisa Wagner said.
Last year, in its inaugural season, the Levitt Pavilion Dayton saw almost 26,000 people from more than 67 zip codes attend 33 concerts in 59 days. This year marks the first full season of more than 50 free concerts and runs from May 30 to Sept. 21. Concerts occur every Thursday, Friday and Saturday and the third Sunday of every month.
Audiences can look forward to more than 10 different genres including R&B, funk, country, blues, classical, hip-hop and jazz as well as a free movie night as part of the PNC family series. The entire lineup of 53 events can be found at levittdayton.org.
After the season is complete, on Sept. 26, the Levitt Pavilion Dayton will hold a ticketed benefit concert as a fundraiser to help support the annual free concert season. The benefit concert features Ambrosia with John Ford Coley and Peter Beckett, “The Voice of Player.” Ticket prices begin at $45 and go on sale to the public on May 30.
