Students alleged to have threatened a Butler County school were banned from campus today as police investigate.

Officials at Hamilton Schools’ Garfield Middle School notified school parents this morning about an alleged threats they suspect were made by students Wednesday evening.

“Garfield Middle School administration received information of possible threats to the school early this morning posted on social media last evening,” wrote Matt Schermer, Garfield principal.

“The students involved were immediately identified, contacted, and prohibited from attending school before any GMS students were on campus.”

“School administration is working in conjunction with the School Resource Officer and Hamilton Police Department as this is an active investigation. At no point during this incident were students or staff safety compromised and a regular school day will be held at Garfield.”

The Journal-News will report more as information becomes available.
