HAMILTON — Hamilton jewelry artist Jennifer Nye says that she feels honored to be included among the artists exhibiting at the ninth annual Pyramid Hill Art Fair.
Nye, who has exhibited at every Pyramid Hill Art Fair but the first, does about six shows a year, she said, but this one is one of the few juried shows she exhibits in, and the quality of work is far above everything else.
But the quality of artists is only half the attraction.
“I love the park,” she said. “I always tell people to come and make a day of it, because you’re going to need a couple of hours for the art show, and a couple of hours to see the park.”
This year, it’s going to be a little easier to see the art, said Laura Hammond, Art Fair Coordinator for Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park, because for the first time the park will be operating a shuttle bus that will take people around to see the dozens of large-scale outdoor sculptures.
“We have over 70 artists registered this year, up from around 55 last year,” Hammond said. “At least half of the artists from last year have returned and we did a much bigger push for artists and did more promotion in general.”
Attending the Art Fair is also an economical way to see the park and the Ancient Sculpture Museum because admission to both is free, with only a $5 parking fee.
“There will be musical entertainment on the center stage the entire time,” she said, “and there will be lots of things for children,” including stilt-walkers making balloon animals, free face painting in the Pavilion and a rope-making activity by Dick Bunger, a popular regular feature of the event.
Last year, the festival drew about 5,000, and that included a day of rain, she said.
