The 93-acre property, which was given to the city of Beavercreek in 2008, took a direct hit from the EF 3 tornado that tore through the northern portions of the city and township on Memorial Day.

The Russ home sustained extensive damage from the storm and is slated to be torn down.

Becauze of safety concerns, the park has been closed to the public since the storm passed through.

More than 70 volunteers helped with the clean-up efforts in June.

GCPT Director Jon Dobney said the open house will give people a chance to see how much the park was damaged and the work that’s been done so far.

Dobney said it’s also the last opportunity for the public to see the former home of Fritz and Dolores Russ before it is torn down.
