WATCH SKY 7: Bees hang high above a Miami Valley residence

Our Sky 7 shot footage today of a bee hive that is hanging nearly forty feet off the ground on a tree at a Miami Valley residence.

Mark Merrell from Southwestern Ohio Hive Parts says, “If you do not bother these type of bees they are usually harmless.” Merrell also commented, “Without the honey bee, we lose our pollination.”

Merrell advised that he gets calls to remove hives like this, but states, “ If you have a little patience, the bees will usually leave the property on their own.”

Many environmentalists are  calling for a large insect population this spring and summer due to our mild winter. However, local bee keepers say the bee population is still on the decline and in danger of dying off.
