Water rescue: Man in hospital after falling 20 feet into gravel pit in Preble County

The man who fell into the water in a gravel pit was pulled out of the pit and taken to the a local hospital, according to Preble County dispatch records.

His condition is currently unknown, and police are working to find out how the man ended up in the water.

INITIAL REPORT:

A water rescue is underway after a man reportedly fell into a gravel pit late Wednesday night at the Natural Springs Resort near New Paris.

The fall was reported shortly before midnight by residents on nearby Kristine Avenue who could hear someone yelling for help, according to initial reports.

The man said he was not hurt, but was cold after falling about 20 feet off a cliff and into the body of water.

It is not known what caused the man to fall.
