2 West Chester officers injured in crash were en route to search for Meijer shoplifting suspect

Two West Chester officers who were injured in a four-vehicle crash this afternoon were on their way to help officers search for a shoplifting suspect fleeing a Meijer, according to township officials.

A dispatch was made about 1 p.m. about shoplifting at the Meijer on Tylersville Road, and the suspect fled the scene.

Two cruisers were on their way to assist when they were involved in a crash with two other vehicles while driving northbound on Cincinnati-Dayton Road, near Cresthaven, officials said. The cruisers had their lights and sirens on, officials said.

Both officers were treated for minor injuries.

The suspect in the shoplifting incident has not been apprehended.

A West Chester Twp. police officer suffered minor injuries this afternoon when the cruiser he was in and another police cruiser were involved in a crash.

The four-car crash, including the two cruisers, happened on Cincinnati Dayton Road near Cresthaven about 1:30 p.m., township spokeswoman Barb Wilson said.

The township tweeted that drivers “should avoid Cincinnati-Dayton Road in the area of Cresthaven Avenue near the Post Office. Accident has traffic stopped in both directions.”
