Next of kin has been found for a Middletown man after the Butler County Coroner’s Office asked for public help in the search.

John Salo, III, 59, lived on South Main Street in Middletown, according to Martin Schneider, coroner’s office administrator. Salo was found dead on March 26 at a residence in the 100 block of North Leibee Street. His death is under investigation but it does not appear to be suspicious, officials said.

Schneider said last week all leads had come up short in locating any family members.

On Wednesday, Schneider said Salo’s family had been located in California.

“At this time, arrangements have been made to lay him to rest,” Schneider said. “The coroner’s office is very grateful to all the readers who offered their assistance in locating Mr. Salo’s family. This speaks to the kind and caring spirit of the residents of Butler County.”
