“It was a car riding past and they were just shooting out the window,” the man said in a 9-1-1 call to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch released Tuesday night. “I tried to keep walking. I didn’t think they were aiming at me.”

The man, believed to still be in a hospital, was hit at least once in his groin. His condition was not available Tuesday night.

“I felt something hit me. I dropped, then I got up and ran to my girlfriend’s house” in the 4100 block of Larkspur Drive.

He described the car as a black Pontiac Bonneville or Grand Prix.

People at the scene, including his girlfriend, who called 9-1-1 to the Larkspur address, became impatient and threatened to take the man to a hospital because the medic unit hadn’t arrived. The emergency operator calmed them and instructed them to put pressure on the wound.

The man told the operator he didn’t know who the people were in the car.

A Dayton Police Department incident report about the incident did not include a narrative about what happened. Police have made no comment about the investigation.
