Xenia’s assistant school superintendent on administrative leave

The assistant superintendent for Xenia Community Schools has been put on administrative leave, but the district has not released any details about the decision.

In a brief telephone conversation Friday, Superintendent Gabriel Lofton acknowledged that Christy Fielding is on leave from the district but declined to comment further.

Lofton said he would issue a statement via email.

Fielding took over the district’s top administrative duties on an interim basis in July 2017 after former Superintendent Denny Morrison’s retirement. Fielding continued to head the district until the Xenia school board hired Lofton on an interim basis.

Lofton’s interim status dropped off last month after school board members voted to retain him on a new longer-term contract.

This news organization is working to get further details about Fielding’s leave status.
