18-year-old wanted for murder in Houston, Texas, is arrested in Butler County

An 18-year-old fugitive wanted for murder in Houston, Texas, is in custody after the Cincinnati-based U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team arrested him in Middletown on Tuesday morning.

Juan Carlos Mendez is accused of taking part in a robbery that resulted in the death of a man in Harris County, Texas, the Marshals Service said in a prepared statement Tuesday afternoon.

Harris County Sheriff’s investigators filed an arrest warrant for Mendez and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force developed information that Mendez was in Middletown.

The U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team in Cincinnati was contacted and located Mendez near the 300 block of Moore Street .

He is in the Butler County Jail awaiting extradition to Texas.
