Man Suffers Burns From Anhydrous Ammonia Leak

Deputies in Clark County said the responded to a 911 call that indicated that a man suffered severe burns from an anhydrous ammonia leak.

Emergency crews from Hustead responded to the scene around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and treated the man who was injured. The incident happened in the 1900 block of S. River Road.

The victim was taken to Greene Memorial Hospital and then transported to Miami Valley Hospital. The victim suffered severe burns to the right side of his chest and stomach area.

During the investigation, it was reported that the victim was working on an anhydrous applicator when there was a loud explosion and the leak.

Witnesses said they observed a white cloud of anhydrous ammonia around the victim and removed the victim from the area and began to wash the chemicals off.
