TROY – The Miami County commissioners on Thursday terminated the county’s director of human resources stating she engaged in “conduct inconsistent with her role and responsibility.”

Tamela J. Hoover, 62, was placed on paid administrative leave Sept. 3 through Sept. 8. The leave then was extended through Sept. 10.

The commission met in a brief executive session Thursday afternoon with county Prosecutor Tony Kendell before voting unanimously to terminate Hoover’s employment immediately.

The commissioners declined comment on what led to the termination beyond the statement in the resolution that Hoover had engaged in the conduct inconsistent with her role and responsibility.

Commission President Jack Evans said they could not comment further at this time.

Hoover was hired by the county for the human resources role in May 2013.

A review of her personnel file Thursday included her latest job evaluation for the year 2019. The evaluation dated Feb. 18 included an “above normal (for) position requirements” rating. In the evaluation, she was praised for doing what was needed to get the job done. “Tammy presents herself very professionally and expects that of her staff,” the evaluation stated.

Following the vote, the commissioners approved an employee requisition to fill the human resources director position.
