This article will take a close look at Mint Mobile’s newest deal and help you decide whether or not you should make the switch.

The Details: How To Get a Month of Mint Mobile Service for Free

For a limited time, new customers can get a free month of service from Mint Mobile. To get this deal, you'll simply need to sign up for Mint Mobile in the app between February 6 and February 13.

During the 30-day free trial, you'll have access to a plan that includes unlimited talk and text plus 10GB of high-speed data on T-Mobile's network. 5G-capable devices will have access to T-Mobile's 5G network as well.

When you sign up for the plan, you aren’t required to sign up for auto-renewal, which means you won’t have to worry about accidental charges at the end of your 30-day free trial. If you do decide to switch to Mint Mobile at the end of the trial, you can choose any of the prepaid carrier’s plans beginning at $15 per month.

Here’s how to get the free trial:

  1. Download the Mint Mobile app. (App Store or Google Play).
  2. Activate your free trial in minutes with an eSIM or receive a physical SIM card in the mail within 2-3 business days, according to Mint Mobile's website.
  3. You'll get a trial number from Mint Mobile to use so that you can try out the service without affecting your current service.
  4. Use Mint Mobile for 30 days as normal.

While you’ll get a trial number for the free 30-day period, you can bring your own phone number at the end of the trial if you decide to switch to Mint Mobile. You can also keep the trial number if you prefer.

Additionally, Mint Mobile is offering the option to skip the free trial and still get one month of free service. To get this deal, just pick any three-month plan and your first month will still be free.

Here are Mint Mobile’s current plans and pricing with the one month free offer:

  • 4GB of high-speed data plus unlimited talk and text ($30 for three months)
  • 10GB of high-speed data plus unlimited talk and text ($40 for three months)
  • 15GB of high-speed data plus unlimited talk and text ($50 for three months)
  • 35GB of high-speed data plus unlimited talk and text ($60 for three months)

To get this deal, visit Mint Mobile's website and sign up for a new plan as normal by adding any plan to your online shopping cart. You'll pay the discounted rate for three months upfront during checkout.

Mint Mobile: A Reliable, Affordable MVNO

If you aren't familiar with Mint Mobile, it's an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) that runs on T-Mobile's towers. It provides access to the same service and 5G network (on capable devices) for a fraction of the price.

You can check Mint Mobile's coverage map to see if you'll have service in your area. If you are covered, you'll likely experience some of the fastest download speeds available on T-Mobile's network.

Mint Mobile's plan prices make them one of several really aggressive inexpensive discounters in the cell phone space according to money expert Clark Howard. These are the reasons that Mint Mobile has won several awards on Clark.com including the following:

I recently tried out Mint Mobile myself, and I had a great experience with service, data speeds and support. If you're thinking about making the switch to Mint Mobile, be sure to read my full Mint Mobile review here first.

Final Thoughts: Should You Switch?

If you're wondering whether or not you should make the switch to Mint Mobile, here's my recommendation: Check your phone's compatibility online, make sure you'll have service in your area by checking Mint Mobile's coverage map and then give it a try! With either available deal, you're getting a month of free service.

Mint Mobile offers access to T-Mobile's excellent network via extremely affordable plans, especially those with unlimited data. Now with the Mint Modern Family Plan, it's easier than ever to manage multiple lines while taking advantage of Mint Mobile's savings as well.

While Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile are trying to push rates up, all these discounters are being very aggressive on price. You have to decide if they’re good for you or not, but if they are, you’re going to save money each and every month and tons of money over the course of a year if you go with one of the deep discounters.
