Willonda Caffie, who teaches at Fairfax Elementary School in Valley, planted a congratulatory sign in the front yard of Christopher Abney's home after the boy earned a perfect score on his reading test last month, AL.com reported.

"Mrs. Caffie is so proud of me!" the sign read.

Abney's mother, Ashly Mccarley, posted photos on Facebook of her son accepting the sign from Caffie and then beaming as he stands next to it.

"You made Christopher's day," Mccarley wrote.

Mccarley's post has been liked more than 19,000 times and shared more than 9,500 times since she posted it Aug. 18.

"I feel like Mrs. Caffie gives my son a fire to want to do his very best," Mccarley told KRIV.

“Other students have also gotten signs for their accomplishments, Mccarley told the television station. "I am not really sure what made his teacher decide to give signs other than trying to reward them in a special way that would also motivate them and others to do their very best."
