An Army specialist has done something that few have been able to accomplish.

Spc. Benjamin Ritchie trained at Fort Jackson, and while there he was the first trainee to get a perfect 600 score on the Army Combat Fitness Test, or ACFT, last month. Only two other soldiers have ever gotten a perfect score. Ritchie is part of Company A, 3rd Battalion, 60th Infantry Regiment, also known as the "River Raiders," Army officials said.

During the ninth week of training Ritchie's battalion, and one other at Fort Jackson, took part in the field testing of the six-part ACFT.

The ACFT tests strength, endurance, speed, power, agility and balance, through a variety of tasks including deadlift, a standing power throw, pushups and a drag and carry event. My San Antonio reported.

Ritchie's not alone at getting high marks on the ACFT. Two of his fellow trainees scored higher than 590, according to military officials.
