Just weeks ago, Boston's Pride Parade brought thousands of people to the city without any incidents.

The group behind the controversial "Straight Pride Parade" has officially received the OK to host the event in Boston.

The city approved Super Happy Fun America's permit for the event at the end of August.

Mayor Marty Walsh says the city cannot deny a permit based on an organization's beliefs. The city did say, however, that it denied the group's original request to host the event at City Hall Plaza.

Organizers say they are not a hate group.

"We are not anti-gay; we are pro-straight," said Super Happy Fun America president John Hugo. "I think there's a lot of misinformation out there. ... There's no hate there; we love everyone, and all are welcome.

The parade will start at Copley and end up at City Hall on Aug. 31.
