Police in South Florida are looking for two men who exchanged gunfire with a man during an attempted robbery outside a bank ATM, authorities said.

According to the police, the victim had just used an ATM outside a Chase bank in Pembroke Pines and was approaching his car when he was accosted by two men, one of whom had a gun, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

The victim armed himself with a gun that was in his car and exchanged fire with one of the assailants in the parking lot, WPLG reported.

“Both the victim and the armed suspect exchanged multiple rounds within the bank’s parking lot,” the Pembroke Pines Police Department said in a news release.

Two nearby vehicles were struck by bullets during the shootout, as well as one of the bank’s windows, the television station reported.

The intended victim was not hurt, but it was unclear whether the gunman or his accomplice were injured, the Sun-Sentinel reported. Police also did not indicate whether the man who had used the ATM had his money taken, the newspaper reported.
