"I pick up my wife from the floor with the eyes wide, she was bleeding (all) over," Jimenez's husband, Eder Rojas, told KRON.
According to Jimenez, her daughter said she was being bullied by several girls at the high school. Tuesday morning, Jimenez and her husband drove the girl to school and began to walk toward the principal's office, KRON reported.
The family said they were met by two girls, who began throwing punches.
"They want to hit my daughter but I cover a lot (so) they ... couldn't get there," Rojas told KRON. "So they grabbed my wife. She has the bones broken right here, she has the eyes all red a bump here."
"The girl was very furious, they grabbed by the hair and dragged me,"Jimenez told KGO-TV through a translator.
Union City police responded and arrested one of the teenagers, the television station reported. She was charged with battery with serious bodily injury.
School officials sent an email to parents, noting the school and police “are investigating and following up on this incident.”
The family plans to hire an attorney and are moving their daughter to another high school, according to KRON.
"I feel really angry, sad at the same time," Rojas told KRON.
"I just wanted to talk to the principal, you'd never imagine a kid would hit an adult, I thought we were safe on campus," Jimenez told SFGate.
A GoFundMe account was set up to help pay Jimenez's medical expenses. As of Monday afternoon, more than $8,300 had been raised.
