A San Jose, California, police officer was fatally shot Tuesday after responding to a call about a man threatening to kill himself, The Associated Press reports.
The San Jose Mercury News identified the victim as Michael Johnson, a 14-year veteran of the San Jose Police Department.
A manhunt for the suspect, 57-year-old Scott Dunham, ended after police entered his apartment using explosives early Wednesday. Dunham was found dead on a balcony, police said. Although officials have not revealed how Dunham died, the Mercury News reported that he had a gunshot wound.
