A child was shot in the abdomen Saturday after a weapon accidentally fired at an Illinois gun range, authorities said.

According to WMAQ-TV, the shooting happened shortly before 4:40 p.m. at Eagle Sports Range in Oak Forest. The victim and his father were in the showroom when a gun went off, and a ricocheting bullet hit the child, WLS-TV reported.

The child is expected to recover from the injury, which wasn't considered life-threatening, authorities told WLS.
