College hands out coasters that can detect date rape drugs

The University of New Mexico has come up with a way to keep its students safe.

The university's Campus Office of Substance Abuse Prevention is distributing coasters that can test drinks for GHB and ketamine, KRQE reported.

Students just have to put a single drop of their beverage on a specific area of the coaster. If it turns blue, then the drink has been spiked with a date rape drug, KRQE reported.

The office has sent coasters to fraternities and sororities on campus, ABC News reported. Some students have picked them up on their own.
