West Virginia has reported its first confirmed coronavirus case, marking a grim milestone: The virus has now spread to all 50 states.

According to the West Virginia MetroNews, Gov. Jim Justice shared the news in a press conference Tuesday.

“Just moments before I was able to come on tonight and talk with you, our health officials came to me and said now we do have our first positive confirmed in the eastern panhandle,” Justice said. “From that, I would tell you just this: We knew it was coming. We’ve prepared for this, and we shouldn’t panic.”

He then encouraged residents to remain cautious but “try to live our lives as best we can.”

As of early Wednesday, more than 6,135 confirmed cases and 112 deaths had been reported in all U.S. states, as well as Washington, D.C.; Puerto Rico; and the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to CNN.
