Coronavirus: Tennessee man gives back to the Memphis community during pandemic

While driving around Memphis, Hunter said he felt a need to bring hope, despite uncertain times of the coronavirus pandemic.

"I had to do something to encourage the kids. Let them know somebody loved them and they haven't been forgotten about," Hunter told WHBQ-TV.

Kids like Charvel Golden gathered at Birch Leaf Place, where they received food and other items from Hunter and his Touched by an Angel Ministries organization.

“This helps us a lot," Golden told the television station. “Because most people are out here suffering because of the coronavirus."

Golden was just one of many who had a need that was met.

"To have somebody thinking about us in this small community, it means a lot," Rick Stevesonhall told WHBQ.

Hunter’s goal of showing love to the kids was accomplished. It was like Christmas in March.

For Golden, though, it was deeper than toys.

"This helps because that way if you like have to go to the store you won't have to because this is giving us the food and other things we need to survive," Golden told WHBQ.

Hunter expressed his gratitude for the people who are helping during this challenging time.

“Thank God that the people are waking up," Hunter told the television station. "They’re coming together. Neighbors continue to check on neighbors. See what they can do to help one another. Bring about a change.”

Hunter plans on expanding his resources and delivering to different Memphis communities.
