"We would like to join our customers in thanking Mr. Perry for his kindness and generosity during this unprecedented pandemic. It was truly a pleasure to see our customers fill with joy and gratitude as the news spread throughout 44 stores across metro Atlanta," the Kroger spokesman told WSB.
On Sunday, Perry left a $500 tip for every out-of-work server at Houston's restaurant in Atlanta, for a grand total of $21,000.
Perry is known for his charitable acts in the Atlanta area and around the world. Last year, he paid the funeral expenses for a murder victim, her daughter's college expenses and made sure her family was not evicted from their home. Police said Tynesha Evans' boyfriend killed her at a bank in North Fulton County in March 2019.
After Hurricane Dorian devastated the Bahamas last year, Perry flew a private plane filled with supplies to the islands.
In 2018, Perry paid off $400,000 in Christmas layaways at two Atlanta-area Walmarts.
