Update 10:15 p.m. EDT Oct. 1: Eleven cows were killed when a tractor trailer overturned Monday morning. It took a nearly 16-hour roundup effort through two metro Atlanta counties to wrangle the last loose calf.
Several cows were hit by drivers rounding a curve on the exit ramp, according to authorities, and more were trapped in the overturned truck.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to an area hospital with injuries. The condition of the driver was not known as of Monday afternoon.
Original report: A total of 89 cows were on the truck when it crashed. Police said that up to 70 could be on the loose in the area of Sandy Springs and Cobb County.
Authorities with the Georgia Department of Transportation rescued cows trapped on the truck.
The area was blocked off near exit 20 toward New Northside Drive. Two cows were killed. At least one driver was injured in the crash.
Local horse owners joined in the effort to roundup the cows still on the loose.
Several people on horseback searched for the escaped cows in the area of Akers Mill Road near Chatahoochee River.

WSBTV was on the scene when crews began corralling the cows and cleaning up the crash.
Crews later moved to a SunTrust bank where crews worked to catch two cows that ran free from the crash scene.
A woman tweeted AJC.com after she spotted a cow on I-75 North around exit 259.

This isn't the first time cows ended up on a metro Atlanta interstate. In May, a truck carrying cows crashed on I-75 near Wade Green Road. In that crash, 10 cows were killed and eight roamed the interstate as crews cleaned up the crash.
In June, WSB-TV's Mark Arum covered another crash when a cattle truck overturned on I-285 in DeKalb County. In that crash, 37 cows were on board the truck. Unfortunately, three cows were killed.
