The Daytona 500 is a 500-mile NASCAR Cup Series season opener, according to NASCAR.
The race is held at Daytona International Speedway, which is 2.5 miles long and requires 200 laps to complete, NASCAR officials said.
The race is "considered the most prestigious and important race in NASCAR," according to the organization's website.
The Daytona 500 has opened the NASCAR season every February since 1982.
This year, President Donald Trump made a special visit to the race, arriving at the Daytona International Airport just after 1 p.m. Sunday. The president is the grand marshal at this year's race.
